Avery*Sunshine Women of Impact Award recipient on 22-City NuSoul Revival Tour with Musiq SoulChild, Lyfe Jennings, & Kindred The Family Soul

5-avery-sunshine-photo-credit-derek-blanksSoulful, not just on wax but in life… Avery*Sunshine brings an energy to life that is contagious and very often found in her music. Yours truly was granted the wonderful opportunity to interview Avery*Sunshine (and I use that term VERY loosely, it was more like a conversation with a friend).  She knows and recognizes that ALL of her comes from her roots in Chester, PA. She reminisced about her parents playing records and slow dancing in the their family living room, while she watched with admiration. When asked what “genre” she feels closest too. Her response was just as pure as her music. She describes her “genre” as heartfelt, genuine, real and soulful. Avery*Sunshine doesn’t feel like she can be put inside of a “genre box”.  This wonderful singer/songwriter/pianist whose eclectic mix of Gospel, Jazz, R & B and Soul with a taste of Hip Hop got her start at the age of 13 as Choir Director at a Catholic Church in Chester. When asked if being at a Catholic church conflicted with her allowing her true soulful self to shine, Avery*Sunshine responded, it was quite the opposite.  She was allowed to shine and bring forth soul and spirit to her church. From then on, she was hooked. She feels very blessed that she’s never had to “work” a 9-5.

This infectious spirit’s already uber busy life of being a mother and newly married wife is about to become ever busier and she is thankful for each moment. Starting this February, she’ll join 11 time Grammy Nominated and 2X platinum selling artist Musiq SoulChild; platinum selling singer/songwriter Lyfe Jennings, and Grammy nominated duo Kindred The Family Soul on the 22 city NuSoul Revival Tour. This tour kicks off in MY part of the country, Raleigh, NC on February 3rd.  She also releases her new project aptly named “Twenty Sixty-Four”. The title of this album is personal.  While she pondered actually marrying her new husband the decision was mad that she would only get married again if he agreed they WOULD stay together until the year 2064. Lastly, in what she describes as one of her greatest accomplishments, Avery*Sunshine has also just been recognized with the very prestigious “Woman of Impact Award” for her work in the music industry. When asked about how it made her feel to be recognized with such industry powerhouses as Angie Stone, Nicci Gilbert, guest of honor, Catherine Brewton (VP of BMI) and Karen Civil. She is extremely grateful for the honor to be acknowledged, however, she feels as if this is something she is supposed to be doing. She continued that giving back is something she should be doing more of and more often and through that she hopes she continues to be an impact on others. After all is said and done, Avery*Sunshine strives to be the best she can be through all of her avenues and wants others to be just as inspired to be the best they can be. THIS author looks forward to all that Avery*Sunshine has to offer!

  1. This is the right webpage for anybody who wants to understand this topic.
You understand a whole lot its almost tough to argue with you (not
that I personally would want to…HaHa). You certainly put a fresh spin on a subject that’s been written about for
many years. Great stuff, just great!

  2. A motivating discussion is definitely worth comment. There’s no doubt that that you ought to write more on this subject, it may
not be a taboo subject but generally people do not speak about these issues.
    To the next! Cheers!!

  3. Hi! This post couldn’t be written any better!
